LAST MAN STANDING?
Uttalande av Garri om schack i skolan
I asked him what he wanted education authorities to do with regard to chess in schools and why it was important? 'Chess must
be in the school curriculum, one year of chess at Primary School level. It's very easy to do. It teaches kids so many qualities:
logic, it helps them to focus on targets, discipline, and the number one quality is responsibility. We livein an irresponsible world
of joint board decisions, no one wants to take responsibility for their decisions. With chess it's up to you, no one's backing
you.
Youngsters have to think about the paradoxes of modern civilisation. We're wasting our most sophisticated technologies on
mindless games, and that's a great paradox.'
